MUSIC MINISTRY

Music is a major part of worship at Christ UMC. The anthems, hymns, and responses are all chosen to help express the scripture for that day. We use many styles, ranging from chants and traditional choral music to gospel songs, contemporary worship songs, and African freedom music. We offer multiple musical outlets and opportunities for all ages. Whether you want to sing along with the congregation while you worship, join the choir or other musical ensemble, or just sit back and soak in the wonderful sights and sounds, the music of Christ UMC will enrich your soul. Contact Minister of Music and Worship, Rev. CELEBRATION SINGERS

Our adult choir is comprised of talented singers who have a shared calling to create worshipful experiences through music. Rather than deliver a performance, our intention is to connect people to God through music. On Sunday mornings, our choir does not wear robes or stay in a choir loft.  Instead, choir members walk up together to the chancel and return to their seats following the song. The Celebration Singers periodically join the youth and children's choirs for special musical events.

 

While we do sing some traditional hymns, we also sing anthems in a variety of styles, from classical to contemporary, spirituals, and world music, to a variety of arrangements from composers such as Handel, John Rutter, Dan Forrest, Elaine Hagenberg, Moses Hogan, Mark Miller, Mack Wilberg, and many others. 

 

Choir practice is held Wednesday evenings from 6:30–8:00pm in the choir room.

JOYFUL NOISE (YOUTH CHOIR)

All youth, grades 7 through 12, are invited and encouraged to participate. Prior singing experience is not required. The youth choir participates in a variety of worship services and an annual choir tour.  Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings from 4:30–5:30pm, before youth group. During the school year, the rehearsal schedule follows the Orbit Youth schedule. If Orbit Youth does not meet, the youth choir will not rehearse.

ABP—ANYTHING BUT PEACEFUL (CHILDREN'S CHOIR)

This choir gives children, Kindergarten through 6th grade, a chance to learn simple songs, grow in confidence, and experience the joy of sharing music as part of worship in a fun and encouraging environment. Rehearsal schedule is TBD. Please reach out to Minister of Music and Worship, Rev. Anne Hook, at anne@christumcfranklin.org if you'd like more information.

This group of singers and musicians offers contemporary praise that energizes and brings depth to our worship service with a blend of instruments, including guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and occasionally brass or woodwinds. Open to anyone. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings at 8:45am in the Main Sanctuary.

ACCOMPANIMENT

Periodically, we invite other musicians from the congregation to collaborate with our choir and band on special arrangements. This includes trumpet, flute, violin, and more.

HANDBELLS

Our handbell ringers play in worship and in holiday concerts periodically each year. Adults 18 and up are invited to join. Prior handbell experience is not required. Rehearsal schedule is TBD.
